Mel Francis is a law clerk and a technical advisor in our office.
Mel Francis earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from The George Washington University. While at George Washington, Mel Francis excelled in subject areas directed to communications engineering; circuit theory; solid state devices; power supplies; amplifiers; devices utilizing Laplace and Fourier Transforms; digital logic systems; logic gates; field-programmable gate array (FPGA) devices; microprocessors; linear feedback control systems; differential and multi-stage amplifiers; input/output stage devices; frequency response devices; semiconductor technology; FETs; BJTs; MOSFETs; CMOS; NMOS; nanotechnology; robotics; artificial intelligence (AI) systems; human tissue engineering; and integrated circuit technology. He provides technical advice on a number of these subject areas to the patent attorneys and agents of the firm.
Mel Francis also worked on various mechanical and electrical aspects of his senior engineering project on a voice-driven wheelchair. Also, while at George Washington, he tutored students in math at a nearby high school.
Mel Francis earned a J.D. degree from the American University’s Washington College of Law. He was a member of the Phi Alpha Delta fraternity, and was a blogger on topics directed to court cases decided by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Mel Francis enjoys travelling, playing the guitar and tennis, and meeting people.
